More about Hair

The Broadway musical 'Hair' has an opening song called 'Hair'. The second verse goes something like this:

Give me a head with hair, long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen
Give me down to there, hair, shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there, momma, everywhere, daddy, daddy

Thai men have trouble growing much of a beard and you often see them plucking in a motorcycle mirror. I don't think they shave with a real razor or ever have to.

Thai women are interesting. They don't have to shave but when they do it is pubic hair.

No shaving of the legs or arm pits is required. They are silky smooth. You will see Thai women plucking the odd armpit hair which they do with their compact makeup mirror and a set of tweezers. Done in 5 mins, both pits ... not much to do.

That is definitely a plus but I have discovered a minus ... they shed!  I am constantly sweeping up Thavorn's hair. I am not sure it is related to the season or why it happens. It does not seem to affect the amount of hair on her head as it is gorgeous like most Thai girls. However, it is thicker and coarser than the average farang hair. Thavorn says my hair is softer than hers. But, then again we farang's go frizzy in the hot and humid rainy season whereas the Thai coarser hair falls straight as ever.

We went to Big C by taxi today (the only dry method during Songkran) in search of head lice shampoo. Bummer ... they were sold out ... who would have thunk it ... just reinforces my notion they are bad business people ... have you ever seen a richer market for head lice ... they should have warehouses of the product on hand ... can you imagine Canada without snow shovels on November 1st :-)

I have included some Songkran 2015 pictures from ... get this ... the Globe and Mail!

Add a little detergent and it gets to be lots of fun.
