SongKran and the carnage continues. We headed out about 4 pm and Soi 22 was awash with water, music, and fun. Tai, Dun, and I were equipped with super soakers and we refilled from the many bins of ice water available along the street. Thavorn looked after Jaidan for the first 2 hours and then Jaidan started to get a little cold, along with Dun and I took them home to a hot bath and left Thavorn to party along. About 9 pm Thavorn dropped off Tai and headed back to meet some friends and head down to Nana to listen to music and dance at Hillary 2. True to her word, Thavorn arrived back home about midnight for a spicy snack to share with Tai and Dun. Jaidan was fast asleep.

THE KINGDOM kicked off the three-day Songkran festival yesterday in a more traditional and frugal manner, as saving water appeared to be the main goal of authorities and event organisers.

It is really amazing the number of people that die over SongKran week. Thais do not handle alcohol well and they all think they are Grand Prix Motorcycle racers. Combine that with alcohol and you have a recipe for disaster. Mostly male motorbike deaths. Could be Darwin's theory at work here.
Today will be a quiet day as I have no desire to get soaked again and my buddy Shaun is arriving will be arriving on the 22nd so I have to save a little debauchery for that weekend. I find I have to pace myself somewhat as I get a little bit older :-)
